This is a busy spring for author Santa Fe author Anne Hillerman. Her second novel, “Rock With Wings,” will be published on May 5. It is the second volume in her mystery series set on the Navajo Reservation.

This novel features Sgt. Jim Chee and his police officer-wife Bernie Manuelito. Each pursue separate cases. Hillerman’s first novel, “Spider Woman’s Daughter” involved Manuelito, Chee and Lt. Joe Leaphorn.  Hillerman’s late father, Tony Hillerman, wrote a number of bestselling novels in which Chee and Leaphorn were the lead investigators.

Even before the May 5 release date of her new book, Anne Hillerman will take part in a panel discussion at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 25 on “The Art of Creating Fictional Stories” at Ghost Ranch. The discussion is part of the New Mexico Pressmen 2015 Conference.

Here’s a short list of some of Hillerman’s upcoming book-related events in New Mexico:

-At 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, Hillerman will give a talk and sign copies of  “Rock With Wings” at the South Broadway Cultural Center, 1025 Broadway SE. Admission is $5; the event is a fundraiser for the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation.

-At 11 a.m. May 16 she will talk and sign copies of the book at the Ruidoso Public Library, 107 Kansas City Rd., Ruidoso;

-At noon May 20, Hillerman will speak to the Mystery Book Club at Stella’s Italian Restaurant, 112 Camino de La Placita, Taos

-At 6 p.m. on May 20 she will give a talk and sign books at Moby Dickens Bookshop, 124 Bent St., Taos;

-And she will be back in Albuquerque on May 23. From 2-4 p.m. that day she will talk and sign books at the Tony Hillerman Birthday Celebration, Tony Hillerman Public Library, 8205 Apache NE, Albuquerque.
