Alamosa Books in Albuquerque announced in an email sent Monday, April 28 that it will be closing in a few months.

The email from Alamosa’s owner Elizabeth Anker said, “Unfortunately this is just too costly a venture to maintain in the long term, and with heavy hearts we will be closing our doors…”

Anker said the bookstore opened four years ago with a singular goal – “to give to Albuquerque youth a place where they could explore their world and come away inspired. We largely succeeded, filling our store with the best stories, brilliant games and toys, and awesome activities – from Craftworks and open mic nights to world-class author tours. And you, our customers, have responded in kind, filling our store with smiles and energy and devoted readers of all ages.”

Her email noted that close-out sales have already begun. It did not give the last day the bookstore will be open for business.

The store is located at 8810 Holly NE, near the northwest corner of Paseo del Norte and Ventura. The phone number is 797-7101. The store’s website is
