… Lynn Gottlieb, former rabbi of Albuquerque’s Congregation Nahalat Shalom, will talk about her book ” Trail Guide to the Torah of Nonviolence” at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2. It is described as a comprehensive guide to Judaism as a nonviolent way of life, explores the path of resistance and rejects equating Judaism with militarism.

$_32… Two hours later, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Christopher Peck will discuss his new book “The Ranch” at the bookstore. The Albuquerque-based Peck said this about his self-published book: “‘The Ranch’ is a mostly accurate first-person account of one young man’s strange journey from gung-ho high school student to landing himself in the middle of the ‘world’s most dangerous navy.’ Our hero slowly evolves into  a war resister who gets into the exact amount of trouble to get assigned to a horse ranch in the U.S. Navy.”

HOW TO GET FILTHY RICH - cover…Mohsin Hamid chats about his newly released paperback edition of his much-praised book “How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5. The author, who grew up in Lahore, Pakistan, uses the self-help genre to relate one man’s rise from rural poverty to extraordinary wealth, the girl he loves and loses and the personal sacrifices he makes. At the same time, the book looks at life in South Asia, the global economy and the havoc of capitalism on human relations.  The author attended Princeton and Harvard Law School. His second book, “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” spent more than two months on the New York Times bestseller list, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and was published in more than 30 languages.
